What is a C & D Screen?
C & D is simply an industry abbreviation for 'Construction and Demolition' which is used to identify equipment that is built to withstand the heavy and rough debris from these applications.  Unlike our smaller shaker screening plants, these units are 3-way split machines which separate the raw material into three end products; an overs, a middles and a fines, which are then each stockpiled with built-on conveyors.  Our C & D class of machines are track mounted to allow thier movement around a demolition site, or other  rugged environment.  The screens vibrate with a more powerful 'throw' to handle the tremendous weight of the raw material.
The basic operation starts with material feeding out of the hopper onto the shaker screen.  The screen is shaking vigorously, causing the material flowing over it to rapidly bounce up and down.  This shakes the 'fines' and 'middles' material off of the larger debris and allows it to pass through the first mesh panel.  The larger debris continues to bounce off the end of the mesh panel at the rear of the screen onto a wide stacking conveyor.  The 'middles' and 'fines' then fall onto the second vibrating screen which further separates the  'middles' from the  'fines' by rejecting the 'middles' off of the end of the second screen panel while the fines pass through.  The 'middles' and 'fines' are each directed onto dedicated stacking conveyors for stockpiling.
